NEW KIEHL'S COUNTER IN SWANSEA
For some Kiehl's skincare isn't anything new and is quite common however, some have never even heard of the brand or know what it is. I for one was one of those who didn't know what Kiehl's was a few years back.
I discovered the brand through social media and beauty blogs. So when I heard the news that they were bringing a counter to my local Debenhams I was really excited.
A BIT ABOUT KIEHL'S
Kiehl's skincare and haircare was founded in 1851 as an apothecary in New York's East Village. There unique background represents a blend of cosmetic and herbal knowledge developed and passed down through generations. Kiehl's is best known for it's high quality products and exceptional and personalised service.
Knowing that their service was highly thought of, I was really looking forward to my consultation. The consultation at Kiehl's is by far the best I have ever had when it came down to my skincare and what products I should be using and trying out. The way it was done was clever, there was this idea of a narrative given to the customer, which led to the sales advisor picking out the prefect products for you.
I loved the fact that each product has it's own back story, it was really interesting to find out how each product and idea came about and developed. What draws me towards Kiehl's also is that their ingredients are all naturally-derived. I'm very conscious with what I'm putting into my body recently, I try to stick to all natural skincare brands if possible.
MY CONSULTATION
After taking about my skin and my skincare routine, the sales advisor identified that I have a mixer of combination skin. Personally I thought I had normal skin so it was nice to know that I need a tackle certain areas differently. With this in mind we picked out a few products to try at home to see how they fit in with my routine and if I notice any improvements.
I really like that Kiehl's give their customers chance to try out their products first before purchasing anything straight away. This service actually turned out to be really helpful for me. Overall I was super impressed with the product samples chosen for my skin type. There was a mixture of new things for me to try. We identified that facial oils were missing from my skincare routine and would definitely be beneficial for my skin. The sales advisor also suggested trying out a micro-peel.
MIDNIGHT RECOVERY CONCENTRATE OIL | £36 (30ml)
I was really excited to try out this product as I was quite familiar with it as I'd read raving reviews about it online. I'm not a huge fan of lavender however, the sent is quite subtle prefect for nighttime as it's relaxing and soothing, The texture is a very fine oil, which absorbed into my skin quickly, and wasn't greasy at all. For application I lightly pressed it into my face and neck, not massage as it breaks up the formula. The result the next morning was really surprising. I definitely noticed that my skin looked brighter and more radiant. Overall I was really impressed with how my skin looked after, I'd for sure keep this in my skincare routine in the future.
RARE EARTH DEEP PORE DAILY CLEANSER | £18 (150ml)
I don't normally change up my cleansers as I always have great results using Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. However, the rare earth cleanser has gentle exfoliants in it which tackled the areas that needed a deeper cleanse. This has definitely changed my views on which cleansers work for my skin, I realise I need more than one to help with different areas and problems.
NIGHTLY REFINING MICRO-PEEL CONCENTRATE | £40 (30ml)
Peel's are a completely new thing for me, I've never had or tried one before not even in pervious facials. So when the sales advisor suggested trying one out I thought why not. I did kind of know what to expect when using a pee as they are harsher on the skin than other products. However, I was not expecting what actually happened. The day after using the peel my face reacted so badly that it had swelled up and was really painful to touch. I was expecting the redness in my complexion as I read that about peels however, not this. After seeing my local GP he said I'd had allergic reaction to the peel and needed some steroid cream to help with the swelling. With that said this does not fully reflect this product as it has worked wonders on other people. Unfortunately it does not agree with my skin and luckily it was only a sample size I had tried.
DAILY REVIVING CONCENTRATE | £49 (50ml)
Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate is a lightweight facial oil intended for daily use. This product also works hand in hand with the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. However, you can just use the daily reviving oil on it's own. The texture is very similar to the midnight recovery oil however, is slightly more greasy. A little definitely goes a long way when using this product! With a blend of naturally-derived oils including ginger root, sunflower and tamanu they help reduce the appearance of daily damage as well as being able to replenish the skin, making it look fresh and energised. Definitely one to add to my skincare routine! I could not recommend the Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate enough. This product has benefited me by boosting the hydration and brightness in my skin.
ULTRA LIGHT DAILY UV DEFENCE SPF50 | £35 (60ml)
OLooking after your skin is very important and applying SPF is definitely on top of that list. Recently I've tried to apply a SPF before my makeup even though we're leaving the summer months, UV rays are still there. The Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defence is prefect for this. The sunscreen isn't too thick and blends out to a finish that's not shiny or oily and also doesn't leave a white cast. I found this to be quite moisturising before applying my makeup and doesn't effect my bace at all. Certainly a good addition to your skincare and makeup routine.
Overall apart from one product, I'll definitely be popping back into Kiehl's to pick these products up and maybe try some more. Kiehl's is for sure a skincare brand I'd go back to again. So if your in around Swansea and Debenhams go and check out the new Kiehl's counter.
